There is no gas pumped into the abdomen, unlike standard laparoscopic surgery. A single cut of 1 to 2 cm removes the gallbladder completely, no muscle is divided, and the scar fades so completely that it looks as though no surgery happened. Most patients go home the same day.

The technique

Three ways to remove a gallbladder, drawn to the same scale.

Most surgeons still work through four separate wounds with carbon dioxide pumped into the abdomen, which is what causes the bloating and shoulder pain of the days that follow. Dr. Abdul Qayyum Khan works through one small opening with no gas at all, and has been refining that approach for 25 years.

The marks above are drawn in proportion to each other, so the difference you see is the difference on the skin.

No gas, so no pain afterwards

Standard laparoscopy inflates the abdomen with gas, which leaves patients with shoulder and chest pain for days. This technique uses none.

The muscle is never cut

Everything is done through a single small opening without dividing muscle, which takes hernia and wound complications close to zero.

Home on the same day

Patients come in, have the operation and go home the same day. Most are back to ordinary routine within 24 hours.

The scar fades away

The mark left behind is small enough that it disappears with time. In Dr. Khan's words, it looks as though no surgery happened.

In his own words

Dr. Abdul Qayyum Khan explains the technique

A surgeon of 25 years walking through what makes this approach different from routine laparoscopy, and why his patients leave the hospital the same day.

No gas, no muscle cutting

Routine laparoscopy needs four cuts and gas in the abdomen. This needs one opening of 1 to 2 cm, no gas, and no division of muscle.

A scar that disappears

The mark is small enough to fade completely over time, which matters to patients who were worried about a visible scar.

Small cut, quick recovery, home quickly. Patients are admitted, operated and discharged within the same day.

About Dr. Abdul Qayyum Khan

FCPS, MRCS, and 25 years spent on one clear idea.

Dr. Abdul Qayyum Khan is a general surgeon holding both Pakistani and UK board qualifications, practising at Health Care Hospital in Satellite Town, Rawalpindi. He holds the FCPS from the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan and the MRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of the United Kingdom, a combination that reflects rigorous local training alongside internationally recognised surgical standards.

Across 25 years of practice he has developed and refined an approach to cholecystectomy that is clinically distinct from both open surgery and standard laparoscopy. By working through a single keyhole opening of 1 to 2 cm, with no carbon dioxide insufflation, his patients avoid the bloating, referred shoulder pain and longer recovery that usually follow conventional techniques.

"My patients are my family. Their trust is what makes me stronger every day."

میرے مریض میرا خاندان ہیں، ان کا اعتماد میری طاقت ہے

He runs a busy OPD and performs both elective and emergency procedures, including complex malignancy cases and high risk patients, among them those with haematological conditions such as haemophilia who need surgery.
