Privacy policy
What this website collects, why, how long it is kept, and who can see it. Written in plain language rather than legal boilerplate, because a policy nobody reads protects nobody.
Who is responsible for your information
This website is operated by the practice of Dr. Abdul Qayyum Khan at Health Care Hospital, Satellite Town, Rawalpindi. The practice decides what information is collected here and what happens to it. If you want to ask about your information, correct it, or have it deleted, contact the clinic on 0336 593 5765.
What this website collects
Information you give us deliberately
If you use the appointment request form, you provide your name, telephone number, the procedure or reason for contact, and anything you choose to write in the message field. If you contact the clinic on WhatsApp or by telephone, we hold whatever you send or tell us, which sometimes includes photographs of scan reports or wounds that patients send voluntarily.
Please do not send detailed medical history, laboratory results or images through the website form. It is a booking request, not a secure clinical channel. Bring those to the consultation or send them on WhatsApp where you can see who has received them.
Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, this one records basic technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you looked at, and the site that sent you here. This is used to understand which pages are useful and to keep the site working. It is not used to identify you personally.
What we do with it
- To contact you back. The only purpose of the appointment form is so that the clinic team can telephone you and arrange a time.
- To prepare for your consultation. Knowing in advance what you are coming about means the right time is allocated and the right tests are ordered.
- To improve the website. Aggregate statistics tell us which explanations patients actually read and which questions we have failed to answer.
Your information is not sold, rented, or passed to advertisers, insurers, laboratories, pharmaceutical companies or anyone else for marketing. There is no circumstance in which a message sent through this site becomes somebody else's mailing list.
Who can see your information
Within the practice, enquiries are seen by Dr. Abdul Qayyum Khan and the clinic staff who arrange appointments. That is the whole list of people.
Outside the practice, a small number of technical service providers necessarily process data in order for the website to function: the web hosting company that stores the site and its database, the form plugin that delivers submissions to the clinic's inbox, and the email provider that carries those messages. These providers act on the practice's instructions and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.
Information may also be disclosed where the law requires it, for example under a court order or a lawful request from a regulatory authority.
Medical confidentiality
Anything you tell a doctor in consultation is subject to medical confidentiality, which is a stronger and older obligation than any website policy. Clinical records are held separately from this website, are not accessible through it, and are not shared with third parties without your consent except where professional duty or the law requires it.
Patient photographs, videos and interviews are only ever published with the patient's explicit permission, given at the time. If you have previously consented to appear in a video and have changed your mind, telephone the clinic and it will be taken down. You do not need to give a reason.
Third party content embedded on this site
Some pages include content served by other companies, and those companies can see that your browser requested it.
- TikTok. Patient interviews and procedure explanations are embedded from the practice's TikTok account. TikTok may set cookies and collect usage data.
- YouTube. Video explanations are embedded from YouTube, which may set cookies and record playback data.
- Google Maps. The map on the contact page is served by Google.
- Google Fonts. Typefaces used across the site are loaded from Google's servers.
- WhatsApp. The WhatsApp buttons open a conversation in WhatsApp, at which point Meta's own privacy terms apply to that conversation rather than this policy.
Each of these operates under its own privacy policy, which the practice does not control. If this concerns you, most browsers allow third party cookies to be blocked, and you can telephone the clinic instead of using any embedded feature.
Cookies
This website uses cookies that are necessary for it to function, and the third party services listed above set their own. No advertising or cross site tracking cookies are set by the practice. You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings, though some embedded videos and the map may then stop working.
How long information is kept
Appointment enquiries are kept only as long as needed to deal with them and to maintain a record of contact, after which they are deleted. Clinical records created during treatment are retained for the period required of medical practitioners in Pakistan and are held under the hospital's record keeping arrangements, not on this website.
Security, stated honestly
The site is served over an encrypted connection and access to form submissions is limited to clinic staff. That said, no website anywhere can promise perfect security, and any policy claiming otherwise is overstating it. This is exactly why the form asks only for contact details rather than detailed medical information.
Your choices
- Ask what information the practice holds about you, and be told.
- Have inaccurate details corrected.
- Have your enquiry details deleted, subject to any clinical record keeping obligations.
- Withdraw consent for your photograph, video or testimonial to appear on this site or on social media, at any time and without giving a reason.
- Ask to be contacted by a different method, or not contacted at all.
All of these are handled by telephoning 0336 593 5765 or messaging the clinic on WhatsApp.
Children
The website is not aimed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them. Where a child is a patient, enquiries and consent are handled through a parent or legal guardian in the usual way.
Changes to this policy
If the way information is handled changes, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will not be applied retrospectively to information already collected.
Questions about any of this
Telephone the clinic on 0336 593 5765 or 0300 527 0347, message on WhatsApp, or ask at the OPD at Health Care Hospital, Holy Family Road, Block F New Katarian, Satellite Town, Rawalpindi.
Medical disclaimer
The information on this website is general education about surgical conditions and procedures. It is written by a qualified surgeon, but it is not a diagnosis and it is not advice about your own case. Reading a page here does not create a doctor and patient relationship. Decisions about your health should be made with a doctor who has examined you and seen your investigations. If you have severe abdominal pain, fever with shaking chills, yellowing of the eyes or skin, or persistent vomiting, seek medical attention now rather than reading further.
